HOW TO BOOK A LOCAL GUIDE?

How do I book?

Choose a city, select a date and fill in the other information for your availability request. It will be sent to all local guides who can either accept or decline your request. The ones who said they are available will appear in the My Hi,hi dashboard. Check out their profiles and book the local guide you like most! Contact details will be shared after a successful payment. Get in touch and set your meeting point!

Is every experience private?

Yes, all Hi,hi experiences are 100% private! It’s just you, your travel companions and your local guide.

Who are the local guides?

Local guides are people who know their city best. They are passionate about sharing insider information about their city. Moreover, every local guide has a different story to tell.

What if a city is not one of Hi,hi Guide’s destinations?

You can send a city request to hi@hihiguide.com and we may add it!

When do I get the contact details of the local guide?

Contact details will be shared after a successful payment. You will receive the local guide's contact details and the local guide will receive yours. Get in touch and set up your meeting point! Also, get to know each other before the tour, so you can personalize your experience!

What is the booking code for?

The 6-digit booking code is a check for Hi,hi Guide to make sure the tour actually took place before we transfer the money to your local guide. You, as a traveller, receive the code in the confirmation email of the booking and in the My Hi,hi dashboard at the My Bookings tab. It’s important to handover the code to your local guide after the tour, so he can collect his earnings afterwards.

How do I set up my meeting point?

Contact details will be shared after a successful payment. Get in touch and discuss which place is the best meeting point for your tour.

What are the payment methods?

You can pay by VISA, Mastercard or American Express credit card. All payments are processed by our payment service provider Stripe Inc. For more info, see Stripe’s privacy policy (https://stripe.com/nl/privacy)


HOW TO BECOME A GUIDE?

How do I become a guide?

Click on the Become a guide button and follow the steps. It’s simple and completely free. Add a profile picture, extra languages, type of tour (e.g. Food and Drinks) and set your hourly rate within the €10 to €40 range. The most important part of your profile is the description of who you are and what you have to offer. This is where you can distinguish yourself from other local guides. The simple rule counts: The more personalized your profile, the more bookings!

Who can become a local guide?

Everybody who’s passionate about their city and who loves to share exciting stories is welcome to join our Hi,hi Community! Sign up and become a guide.

What if my city is not one of Hi,hi Guide’s destinations?

This is a bummer. However, you can send a city request to hi@hihiguide.com and we may add it soon!

How do I get bookings?

You will receive availability requests from travellers, which you can either accept or decline depending on your agenda. Travellers choose the local guide they like the most out of the available ones. Contact details will be shared after a successful payment. Get in touch and set up your meeting point! We transfer your earnings after the tour.

Tip: the sooner you accept a request, the higher the chance you get booked!

When do I get the contact details of the traveller?

Contact details will be shared after a successful payment. You will receive the traveller's contact details and the traveller will receive yours. Get in touch and set up your meeting point! Also, get to know each other before the tour, so you can personalize your tour!

How do I set my meeting point?

Contact details will be shared after a successful payment. Get in touch and set a suitable meeting point for your tour!

How do I get my earnings?

Travellers provide you with a 6-digit booking code after the tour. With this code you can release your payment. Send the code to hi@hihiguide.com and receive your earnings via a bank transfer (only inside the EU) or PayPal (both inside as outside the EU). This serves as a check for Hi,hi Guide to make sure the tour actually took place before we transfer the money to you. There are no transaction costs for bank transfers. PayPal, however, may charge a small fee depending on the currency and bank account connected to your PayPal account. These extra charges are payable by you.

What if I did not receive the booking code?

In case you have not received the booking code, try to contact the traveller and ask for it. Another option is to send an email to hi@hihiguide.com and explain your situation.

What are the payout methods?

How much is your commission?

Hi,hi Guide handles a 20% on top of commission. For example, if you set an hourly rate of €10, the hourly rate presented on your profile will be €10 + 20% x €10 = €12. So, for local guides counts: The hourly rate you set, is the hourly rate you get!

Do I need to pay income tax?

You are responsible for your personal tax declaration. Contact your local tax authorities with what your country's policy is regarding employment in the gig economy.

How do I delete my account?

Send an email to hi@hihiguide.com notifying us to delete your profile. We welcome your feedback because our goal is to make your lives easier.


CANCELLATION POLICY

What is Hi,hi Guide’s cancellation policy?
When the traveller cancels:
Within 7 days before the trip means no refund for travellers and a full compensation for local guides.
Longer than 7 days before the trip means a full refund for travellers and no compensation for local guides.
When the local guide cancels:
Within 7 days before the trip means a full refund for travellers and no compensation for local guides.
Longer than 7 days before the trip means a full refund for travellers and no compensation for local guides.

SAFETY

Is it safe to book a local Hi,hi Guide?

Every guide profile is thoroughly screened by the support team of Hi,hi Guide. With verified personal data, Hi,hi Guide can always identify a local guide. Also, explicit content on guide profiles is strictly prohibited. Violators are unilaterally deleted from our platform.
